Creating Safe Communities (Naked Pastor David Hayward)
Feb 27, 2023
"A healthy community is diverse."
Our guest this week, David Hayward (the Naked Pastor) is a deconstruction cartoonist who creates “Art that provokes honest conversations about life and spirituality.” If you asked me though, he is a thought leader who is literally saving people’s lives and giving them hope. No…really.
As a previous pastor, he has studied community, built many, and “gets” the need for human belonging. ALSO as someone who left the church, he gets that a lot of us are looking for a healthy community, and sometimes the online space is the only place we can find it.
My husband and I have been following him for years, have his art handing in both of our offices, and believe deeply in the community that David has fostered. Today I ask him some hard questions about creating safety in community (esp when it is online), dealing with trolls, and how to deal with criticism.
The Naked Pastor leads by example, hope you follow his work and take to heart his wisdom in this conversation.
