Finding and Speaking Your Point of View (Especially as a Woman) | Kathy Klotz-Guest

“I hate to see funny women settle for less than who they are.”

If you are an aspiring storyteller or performer, or maybe just want to flex your creative muscle a little more, I am sure the advice to “develop a strong point of view” has graced your ears more than a few times. In order to really make interesting work, it needs to be embedded in truth.

However, what do we get beat out of us as kids? (Hint: our voice, our opinions, and expressing them). Especially if you are a woman.

Our guest this week, Kathy Klotz-Guest is a speaker, author, comedian...and a recovered tech exec. She spent her career “doing tech in the day, comedy at night.” She loved her time on stage because it was a place she could experiment, be honest, and tell all the “truths” she was living.

In this conversation, we dig into how to develop your voice and have the courage to express your point of view. Specifically, we discuss this within the context of being a woman when there is pressure to present yourself in one conventional way. Kathy says, “I hate to see funny women settle for less than who they are.”

FROM TODAY'S EPISODE:

  • Uncovering your voice (if it's been a while since you used it)
  • Being a funny woman (who is respected) in the workplace
  • Bringing more TRUTH into your brand
