Making the World BETTER with Gamification

"Find your quirkiness and make it your blessing."

I am going to be honest. When I first started learning about gamification I didn't understand it. It didn't sound like something I could really get into, or fully get behind. Aren’t brands just using human psychology to get people to buy more things?

I stand corrected.

Our guest this week, Yu-kai Chou, is often referred to as a gamification guru. He is the creator of Octalysis Framework and now the co-founder of Metablox NFT. Digging into his work, his passion for gamification, and seeing how he is implementing its principles in his new project, Metablox, I'm actually becoming a big fan. Let’s gamify some stuff y’all.

The key difference for me that I learned from Yu-Kai is that gamification is simply about making tasks more enjoyable. His mission has been to not take people away from their real lives and numb out in front of tech but instead use principles in psychology to help people ENJOY tasks that actually improve their lives and enrich their relationships.

Gamification is a powerful tool for community builders to not only help improve engagement in their communities but MOST importantly…make this world a better place.

  • Ethics in gamification and IMPROVING humanity

  • Understanding human motivation

  • Having a higher meaning in your community

Yu-kai Chou is an Author and International Keynote Speaker on Gamification and Behavioral Design. He is the Founding Partner and Chief Creation Officer of the premium consulting/design firm The Octalysis Group, as well as Co-Founder and Chief Experience of Metablox – an NFT platform powered by Real World Places and Real Life Memories.
